Non-surgical hair loss remedies

  •        Medications
  • Medications

These are over-the-counter drugs that have been approved by the Food and Drug Association (FDA) to help treat hair loss. They come in form of ointments and foams. Minoxidil and Finasteride are the most known and used of these drugs. Minoxidil is actually an antihypertensive drug but when doctors noticed how it caused unwanted hair growth in different body parts, it became a remedy for hair loss. It is safer to use than Finasteride, which is contraindicated in children and pregnant women. Medications can be useful if you're not experiencing severe hair loss such as thinning.

  •        Scalp micropigmentation

This is a non-surgical procedure that uses a cosmetic ink to produce hair-like lines and markings on your scalp such that it gives the impression of a fuller hair. It is a relatively easy procedure and is good if you have very short hair and your hair loss is not severe. This process however is temporary and doesn't appear very realistic.

Surgical hair loss treatment

There are two methods by which a surgical procedure can be used to correct hair loss.

-  The follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS)

-  The follicular unit extraction (FUE)

To replace your hair surgically, you will undergo a process called a hair transplant. This is how it works –Hair is removed from its follicles from one are of your body where it is concentrated and used to fill other areas where there is no hair or thinning. This procedure is comparatively very delicate because the surgeon has to create holes with a needle in your scalp and fill those holes with single strands or small groups of transplanted hairs with their follicles.

At the end of the procedure, the area where the extraction was done heals leaving tiny spots which will be covered by your existing hair. You will need to be on pain medications and head bandage for several days and restrict your head movement. You will also be given antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs to ease the recovery process.

After about three weeks, the transplanted hairs die off but take longer to regrow. New hair growth can take up to six months before it begins but is usually permanent. This option comes with a lot of health risks apart from being expensive.

So there you have it! You have a few options to choose from. While it may seem like doom and gloom at the start of your hair loss, you have solutions that can ensure you have a head full of hair! No need to endure the pain and long experience of hair transplantation, you only need to choose a men's hair system that matches your hair color, and then spend 1-2 hours to have thick hair, making you younger.
