The Guide to Deal with Thinning Crown Efficiently

Many men are prone to experience thinning crown in their 50's. Some of them experience pattern hair loss even earlier. Accepting the condition may be a way to deal with it. Still, many people are not satisfied with their new appearance which leads to anxiety, losing confidence and depression. Here are some ways you can manage hair thinning at the crown that will help you restore your self-confidence and regain pleasure and interest in your daily activities.

Ways of covering your bald crown

1. Wear a toupee

Wearing a wig at the early stages of pattern hair loss may not be reasonable, as long as a good portion of your hair is still on your scalp. An alternative would be covering your thinning crown with a toupee. A toupee is a hair system that covers only a part of the scalp affected by baldness. If you are afraid of a poor match of your existing hair with the synthetic hairpiece, you can rest assured because toupees are made of natural hair as well, which will provide a perfect blend with your hair.

2. Apply scalp sprays

Sprays are also a way of fighting pattern baldness. There are many sprays and colorants that match the color of your hair, making your thinning area less visible.

3. Experiment on your hairstyle

This trick works if you have much hair left on your scalp. If so, you can try new hairstyles that reduce the bald appearance at the crown. Hairstyles that might help you cover your thinning top include: slick back and comb over. If you have much hair at the front, you can turn it into a pompadour hairstyle.

Thinning crown treatments

While masking your hair problem artificially might be a way out, trying to treat it helps regain your hair and prevent further hair loss. Here are some treatment options you can try for managing thinning crown:

1. Massage your scalp

Treatment may not necessarily imply medications. You can try massaging your scalp, by pressing gently on it with your fingertips which helps increase the blood flow to the dormant follicles located under the crown area and stimulate their activity. You can dip your fingers in some castor oil that will make them slippery and promote hair growth, at the same time.

2. Use essential oils

Essential oils, like lavender or rosemary, are said to be good fighters against hair loss, by soothing and moisturizing the scalp, making it a thriving ground for hair growth, as well as reducing the risk of infections. You have to pour one tablespoon of essential oil on the crown and massage gently for 2 to 4 minutes.

Keep in mind that your skin may not tolerate some essential oils. This is why you are better off performing a patch test before setting out the treatment. Place a drop of oil on your hand skin and let it stay for 24 hours. If the next day, the area turns red and itchy, your skin is allergic and you need to choose another way of treating the condition.

3. Shampoo

Another way to fight crown baldness is to use shampoos for hair loss that add volume to your existing hair, helping it cover the bald patch at the top of your scalp. The shampoo has also a role in moisturizing and nourishing the scalp, minimizing infection and maintaining follicle's health.

4. Minoxidil

If there is a medication that hair loss treatment is associated with, it is definitely minoxidil. It is the most popular drug against baldness, playing the role of a hair growth promoter that stimulates follicles by increasing the blood supply to them. Generally, the topical is applied on the scalp two times a day, but you are better off consulting a doctor to issue a customized application routine depending on your scalp chemistry and severity of your condition.

5. Add vitamins to your diet

Increasing the blood flow to the follicles is not enough as long as it misses out on precious vitamins and nutrients. This is why, you have to add value to your blood, by starting a multivitamin diet that includes such hair-growth promoting elements as fatty acids, folic acid, iron and zinc.

To conclude, if you are not satisfied with the appearance provided by your crown thinning, you can address the condition using both artificial coverings that include: colorant sprays, toupees and hairstyle reinvention, and pattern baldness treatments, such as scalp massage, essential oils, volumizing shampoos, minoxidil and vitamin-rich diet.
